having gained my law degree (LLB) from the University
of Aberdeen, Scotland and, thereafter, a post-graduate
diploma in Business Administration from the University
of Strathclyde in Glasgow, I worked for the Foreign
and Commonweath Office, first in London and then
at the British Embassy in Prague.
moved to Sweden from Prague in 1978 and subsequently
held administrative posts at a number of different
companies including Dow Chemical, Bostik and Cray
Valley. A considerable amount of my time there
was spent on translation work, from Swedish into
English, and in 2000 I decided that the time had
come to start working freelance as a translator.
